Safe Researcher training

Researchers wanting access to datasets must demonstrate that they have the skills, knowledge and experience to use data safely and effectively, adhering to the 5 Safe principles: Safe people; Safe projects; Safe settings; Safe outputs; Safe data.

Whilst different datasets will have varying requirements, many expect applicants to have completed up-to-date safe researcher training.

Accredited Researcher training

Accredited Researcher status under the Digital Economy Act 2017 allows researchers to carry out analysis and produce outputs on projects in a Trusted Research Environment (TRE). Individuals must have an undergraduate degree (or higher) and experience working with statistics or been involved in conducting quantitative research.
