OSCE Examiners

In years 2, 3, 4 & 5 of the BM BS course and Years 1 & 2 of the Physicians Associates course we run Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) as part of our end of year summative assessments.

These are practical assessments which asks students to work through a series of clinical scenarios or stations, these may involve taking a history or an emergency medicine scenario. In order to deliver these OSCEs we rely on clinicians to act as examiner and lend their expertise and experience to assess students. We have two main periods of assessment in January and February and June and July.

We offer training to our of our examiners ahead of the assessment period and an opportunity to connect with experienced examiners and BSMS faculty.

This is an exciting time to get involved with assessments at BSMS as we worked to pilot elements of the MLA and are delivering Sequential OSCEs for the BM BS course to our undergraduate students.

BSMS requires all examiners to currently registered with the GMC and to have up to date EDI training. If you’d like to be involved with examining OSCEs please contact Exams@bsms.ac.uk.  If you do not hold current GMC registration but have held registration in the past and are interested in becoming an examiner please contact us at Exams@bsms.ac.uk >
