Freelance journalist and writer, Juliet Jacques, has written for The Guardian, The New Statesman, TimeOut and a variety of other publications and websites on gender, sexuality, literature, film, art, football and other subjects. She has blogged extensively about her gender reassignment process and transsexual living.
Best known for writing the Transgender Journey column for The Guardian website - Juliet talked about how and why she came to write the column and provided background on how transgender people were portrayed in print and broadcast media from the early Nineties, when she was growing up, until the present, and how they were attacked by conservatives, alternative comedians and radical feminists alike.
The column was longlisted for the Orwell Prize for blogs in 2011, and this year Juliet was placed on the Independent on SundayPink List for LGBT journalists.
