Year 2 student Connie Lin discusses her top tips for medical school interviews, her highlights of studying at BSMS, and what she loves about living in Brighton and Hove.

What made you want to study at medicine?

I want to make real differences to people's lives and improve people's health. I'm also very interested in sciences; therefore I reckon medicine is a great career that has the best combination of what I wanted to do in the future!

What made you want to study at BSMS?

BSMS provides us early clinical learning opportunities, which is an essential part of medicine. With the early experiences, I believe I can develop great clinical skills in the future as a doctor.

Is medicine a stressful degree?

Yes it is, but always remember it's a degree that can change and improve people's lives, which is what I have always dreamed of.

What are your top tips for preparing for medicine interviews?

I read lots of healthcare news and practiced some common questions with my friends. I would also say be confident at what you say, and always smile and be nice. Do not over practice or try to memorise scripts, speak naturally and be yourself!

What has been your BSMS highlight?

It's really nice to have the opportunities to visit community hospitals and have these early clinical experiences. I also have three medic mums who are very supportive and helpful in terms of preparing for exams and studying at BSMS.
