About this session

Podiatry plays a crucial role in maintaining foot and ankle health, addressing a wide range of conditions from common ailments like plantar fasciitis to complex issues such as diabetic foot care.  Podiatrists provide comprehensive care in various clinical settings, often collaborating with other healthcare professionals. This presentation will delve into the diverse scope of podiatry practice, highlighting the roles and responsibilities of podiatrists, and will include a detailed case study to illustrate the practical application of podiatric care. Through this session, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the contributions of podiatrists to overall health and well-being.

Rachel Forss graduated as a Podiatrist in 1995 from the University of Brighton and completed an MSc in Podiatry in 2003. Since graduating she worked for the NHS at East Sussex Health Care Trust for 18 years, 13 years of those as the Wound care lead within the Podiatry department. Since 2013, Rachel has been working at the University of Brighton and is now the Course leader for the MSc Podiatry (pre-registration) course. Rachel has research interests in wound healing, exudate viscosity and most recently how microgravity conditions affect wound healing.

Libby Rodriguez graduated as a Podiatrist from the University of Brighton in 2018. She has since worked in private practices, treating a wide range of conditions. Since 2022, Libby has been part of the University of Brighton, and is currently the admissions tutor for the BSc (Hons) Podiatry program.
