About this session

To celebrate World Day of Social Justice, Brighton and Sussex Medical School are hosting a free event in partnership with ‘MedFest Egypt’ international medical film festival.

We will screen four short films from the UK, Egypt and Switzerland, followed by a panel discussion with:

  • Dr Fionnuala Finnerty, a consultant in Sexual Health and HIV who works closely with refugee and asylum seeking groups
  • Dr Patrick Nyikavaranda, co-director at Diversity Resource International and academic whose research interest involves migrant populations and mental health
  • Lotje Sodderland, Emmy-nominated director of My Beautiful Broken Brain film.

Drinks will be available after the screenings and panel discussion.

The event programme also includes a photo exhibition, The Black Box of Policy – an installation to evoke change, plus time for networking and drinks.

Entry is free but booking is essential.
