This one-day course will cover identification and management of common physical health disorders in psychiatry, in line with the 2017 CQUIN goal of 'Improving physical healthcare to reduce premature mortality in people with severe mental illness’. 

Topics include:

  • Cardiovascular risk: Hypertension and lipid disorders 
  • Diabetes 
  • Exercise and dietary interventions
  • Behaviour change interventions

Who should attend?

Consultant Psychiatrists and SAS doctors in all psychiatry specialties working within Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust (SPFT).


Certification

Certification for six hours CPD will be provided to attendees.


Who will teach it? 

This course will be led by Dr Richard Whale and Dr Jason Read and taught by clinical specialists and university lecturers from relevant disciplines.

Fee

£150 (includes lunch, refreshments and parking)

This course is free at the point of registration. SPFT doctors who register for this course can claim the above course fee from their study leave budget. To allow the course fee to be claimed from your study leave budget, you will be asked to confirm your intention to complete a study leave form and return it to your respective medical education department. Your medical education department will email you the appropriate form after registration. Those not returning a completed study leave form or not attending once a place is booked will be personally liable to repay SPFT for the course fee.
