Biography

Oluwafunmilayo (Funmi) completed a BSc in Biological Sciences. After an MSc in Health Promotion and Public Health, she worked with the NHS and various Local Authorities. Interested in the well-being of care home staff, she went on to undertake a doctoral research at the University of East Anglia. Her research was a mixed methods multi-study of frontline care home staff, investigating self-efficacy and well-being. She has also worked in various public health capacities internationally.

Research

Funmi’s research interests lie within Public Health and Social Care, with a keen interest on the well-being of the workforce. She is currently working on developing a homecare community of practice, which is a group of stakeholders interested in supporting the provision of homecare services through research, to improve outcomes for both those receiving and those providing care across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. Funmi is also working on a place-based approach to research, involving a selection of localities (isolated/coastal). This approach is aimed at developing a better understanding of public health datasets, contextualising field work and ultimately informing implementation.
