Biography

Nicoletta holds a BA in Classics, awarded by Università degli Studi "Gabriele d'Annunzio" di Chieti e Pescara in 2016. She then completed a MSc in Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology (2018), and one in Human Anatomy and Education (2019), at The University of Sheffield.  

Nicoletta has extensive experience teaching regional and system-based anatomy across undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, having worked as a Teaching Fellow in Anatomy for the University of Birmingham (2019-22), and as Assistant Professor in Anatomy at University of Nottingham (2022-24), before joining BSMS as Lecturer in Anatomy.  

At the University of Birmingham, Nicoletta acted as Anatomy lead in the BSc Biomedical Materials Sciences degree, and in the Musculoskeletal System module in the Medicine degree. At the University of Nottingham, Nicoletta acted as module convenor for Musculoskeletal Anatomy in the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) programme. 

Research

Nicoletta’s research interests include medical education, with a focus on curriculum design, and age at death estimation in skeletal and dental remains.

Teaching

At BSMS, Nicoletta contributes to anatomy teaching across most modules in first and second-year BM BS, and in the Physician Associate Programme. Nicoletta acts as anatomy lead for module 103 (Heart, Lungs & Blood).
