Biography
Hazel joined the Research and Enterprise Team later April 2022 as Research Development Manager supporting BSMS leveraging her experience in project management, strategy and funding gained from working internationally in sectors including healthcare, higher education, energy, banking and charity. Transitioning a career in corporate advisory (oil and gas sector) to management roles both in the NHS and Higher Education, Hazel previously worked as Research Development Manager for Kingston University, London supporting research funding in schools covering Life Sciences, Engineering and Computing. She also supported academics with research funding at the University of West London and the University of Reading - leading on the development and launch of the £150 million ‘IMAGINE Campaign’ to fund activities in research, education, and student welfare. Hazel has undertaken various voluntary and fundraising roles in healthcare for Cancer Council Victoria (Australia), Cancer Research UK, the Royal Voluntary Service and NHS Charities. She has also held senior roles as Director of Charity at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Charity and as Head of Charity at Portsmouth Hospitals Charity supporting research and grant funding in healthcare. Hazel is a diploma-qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and a member of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators.
