Biography

Dr Elkholy is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, BSMS, and a Professor of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Egypt. Dr Elkholy graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt, where he also obtained his Master's Degree in Neurology and Psychiatry (MSc), and Doctorate Degree in Psychiatry (MD). He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, UK in 2014. Dr Elkholy has extensive experience in the fields of general adult psychiatry, addiction and tobacco cessation and control. He has more than 45 articles and book chapters published. He is currently the Deputy Editor of British Journal of Psychiatry International, and a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals. Dr Elkholy is the Co-Chair of the Addiction Psychiatry Section in the World Psychiatric Association (WPA). He has held other positions in different associations including member of the publication committee of the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), co-chair of section on Education in Psychiatry (WPA), Financial Officer Middle Eastern Division, Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), and founder/first Chair of the Early Career Psychiatrists Section, WPA. Dr Elkholy's main areas of interest are Addictive Behaviours, Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Adults, and Women Mental Health.
