Biography

Danya Stone was awarded an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Sheffield. She then completed a master’s degree in Human Anatomy and Education, during which she demonstrated anatomy to undergraduate biomedical science students on their Introduction to Human Anatomy module. This provided a pathway for Danya to continue teaching anatomy in Higher Education Institutions. Danya has since acted as an anatomy demonstrator at Trinity College Dublin, before beginning in her position as Anatomy Lecturer at BSMS in 2019.

Research

Danya has an interest in medical and anatomical education research. She is currently completing a part time PhD looking into the impact of exposure to the dead on medical students during their anatomy dissection sessions.

Teaching

At BSMS, Danya primarily delivers teaching to first- and second-year medical students and leads the anatomy teaching for module 103 (Heart, Lungs and Blood). Danya also contributes to teaching on undergraduate Biomedical Science courses at both the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton, and postgraduate teaching for the Physician Associate Programme. She also teaches on external and surgical training courses.
