Research
Chay's doctoral research focuses on the development of assisted dying law and policy. Specifically, as more jurisdictions in the Commonwealth are changing their legal position on assisted dying practices it opens a discussion as to whether there are justifiable reasons why the laws in England & Wales have not experienced a similar change. The research aims to explore the relationship between 'law and society' across different contexts with empirical research methods to reveal and examine the factors that influence radical legal reform.
His research interests predominantly focus on medical law, policy and regulation; bioethics; criminal law and criminology; comparative and empirical research methodology.
